Mardon Day

When I was 22-years old, the Lord saw fit to adopt me as one of His children by way of a small church in South Georgia and a old-school pastor named Hilton Gillespie who set my feet on the right paths. I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and His death on the cross as an atonement of my sin. After that day, my life as a Christian began and has been full of all manner of experiences many resulting in growth and some for the purpose of discipline. All of which have been indispensable, as my wife of 20-years and I have been given the privilege of raising two wonderful princesses of our own.
We have been attending Thompson Station Church for 8 years now and I have been teaching the best adult Sunday School class at TSC for past 5 years. I have, most recently, begun assisting my wife in 2nd grade Sunday School class.
I met my wife while at Trevecca Nazarene University where we both graduated with a BS in Biology. From there we were accepted at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa. We both graduated with a Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine. We started a Podiatry practice in Nashville in 1997; Nashville Family Foot Care, PLLC.
We are blessed with two amazing children, Elizabeth and Emily. I have received some of God’s greatest blessings and have learned of God’s greatest plan for my life raising my two girls.
Psalm 27:4 One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in the temple.
This verse is the foundation of a life transformed by grace. This is my verse.

Life verse
Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct[a] your paths.
No matter what the situation is in life, if I turn my focus and attention on what God says, I will know what He wants for me. I have to remind myself to take a breath and not “solve” it with my knowledge but to lean on Him. That means Prayer and time with HIM.
Your salvation story
I come from a wonderful Christian home and grew up in the church. During a Ron Comfort Revival in Memphis, TN, I realized that I didn’t want to spend eternity in hell. My grandfather has just died and I remembered how sad my mom was that her dad didn’t know Christ. I decided that I needed to immediately ask Jesus into my heart. That night as soon as he gave the invitation I went down front and our minister of music (best friend’s dad) walked me thru the Roman’s road and I asked Jesus to come into my heart and take over my life.
Family info
I have been blessed with a wonderful family. My wife, Alison, who married me December 21, 1996. My three kids: Natalie (11), Grayson (8), and Avery (2)

Education
I graduated from Raleigh-Egypt High School in 1991. I have a BA in Marketing and Logistics from the University of Memphis. I also have a MBA in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis.
Career
I have worked for GE for the last 5 years with roles in Operations, Sales, and management. I recently was named the National Director of Government Accounts- Service Sales.
Your service at TSC
In 2007, I took a position as a Healthcare Account Manager for GE in Middle TN. Finding a new church home was one of our first priorities. After the first Sunday we knew this was our home. We were asked to help out at KidMo on Wednesday nights right off the bat. We realized we couldn’t serve until we joined, so we joined the next week. I have taught 3rd grade, 1st grade, and 5th grade on Sunday mornings. On Wednesday nights, Alison and I lead KidMo for 3rd and 4th grades. In February as we started XLR8 for 1st-4th graders we decided to lead the first hour.
I also have helped lead GROW (our churches outreach program) for the last few years.
I am deeply honored to be asked to continue to serve my church family as a member of the Personnel Team.

Life verses Romans 8:31 “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 15:13 “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit”
Your salvation story - I grew up in a Christian home, but never realized who Jesus was to me until my wife gave birth to our first son in February of 1998 when I was 26 years old. Through the miracle of life, I began to search for meaning and purpose in my life and to think about the legacy that I would leave for my son. I knew that my life was missing something and the things that motivated me to be my best were not important or lasting, certainly not eternal. I accepted Jesus as Savior in October of that same year and was baptized by Pastor Tom. My life has never been the same. Thank you God for saving me!!!
Family info - I have been married to my beautiful wife, Tracey, for 19 years this past July. We have 5 biological sons and added 2 sons through the miracle of adoption in 2011. Their names are Fitsum (15), Brady (14), Avery (13), Kodey (11), Tariku (11), Jesse (8), and Tobey (6). We have our hands full but there is nothing better to have your hands full of than family. My wife and my boys are truly a blessing to me.
Education – I graduated high school from Battle Ground Academy in Franklin, TN. I have since received a BS degree in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Middle Tennessee.
Career – I joined my family’s business in 1993 and run it with my younger brother. The name of the company is Allstate Plastering, Inc. We do exterior claddings on commercial and residential buildings. We also do interior finishes and plastering. I am the CFO of the corporation. Our company has been in business since 1979 due in large part to the strong Christian principles and work ethic that were taught to me and my brother by our father. We continue to do work the right way, and God is blessing our company.
Your service at TSC – I currently teach in a 1st Grade Sunday school class at 8:30 on Sunday mornings that is led by Christy Peters. I love seeing the light bulb go off in kids that age as they begin to realize that Christ died for them, personally. I also co-teach an adult Sunday school class, FUEL, with Shawn Hanks on Sunday evening. Until 4 years ago, I taught adults on Sunday morning. God burdened my wife and I for all the couples that were either both serving and missing out on Sunday school together or 1 was serving and the other was attending class without their spouse. We decided to help these couples by providing an option to do Sunday school at night and FUEL was birthed. I have also served on the Finance team in the past and the nominating team. My life is full of activity, but service unto the Lord takes high priority.

I was saved at the age of six and baptized at age 12. My parents and I were members of Christ Church Nashville for 21 years and we have been members of TSC since 2001 (I think). My background is that I have worked in the banking industry since 1999 and I am currently a Retail Manager for The Bank of Nashville where I have been since 2003. I currently oversee 5 branches and 19 employees. My wife Rachel and I have 3 kids and we are very involved at TSC. Rachel volunteers with the preschool department on Sunday mornings and I teach a Connect Group with Nathan Lankford and Brent Jones on Sunday night called Catalyst 4 Christ. I go to Nicaragua every year on a missions trip and we believe strongly in supporting our missionaries in the field and supporting orphans that we have the opportunity to put into school or feed.
